we are looking at a small meet for members to try for Grayling in the day time and on the evening a spot of tying flies for Sea Trout.
The location is likely to be mid wales, possibly in January?
Is anyone interested?

Count me in too, please.
Can we make sure that the accommodation is within easy staggering distance to a pub? I'll drive miles to fish somewhere but I always feel that much better if I'm close to a drink when it's over.

yup, definitely up for this one. Usually one hell of a laugh, so let's get it sorted.
The Taff is fishing very well, so that could well be an option. The Irfon would be another. But I'm happy either way.
TT.

Right then, let's get this sorted. Firstly, how does the weekend of the 13/14th of January strike everyone? If we can get a head count going then I can go about getting some beats booked up. We are probably going to do it on the Irfon (tributary of the Wye), where we will have 3-4 beats at our disposal - this amount of water will allow us to rotate on both days. The Irfon tends to hold quite sporadic shoals of grayling, but when you find them they are often large, both in size and number. Hoppy has a link for suitable accommodation, it's very cheap and is ideally located for the fishing. It also seems a suitable location to allow us to have the evening of fly-tying etc. I will bring some suitable gear for tying grayling flies along, should that be of interest. I don't profess to be an expert of any angle, grayling fishing included. However, I am more than happy to help anyone out who hasn't tried it before - it's a great laugh, and a great way to beat the winter blues. There's a couple of other boys who have fished for them before who I'm sure will be willing to give a helping hand. With the stopover, which can also include the Friday night, some of the forum members from further afield may want to come down/across/up, too? You're more than welcome (if you are interested and would would like to share a journey then put a rough description of where you live when posting, this will allow you to converse with likely partners via PM etc.). Based upon past experience, it's a right laugh! and Aled' bacon baps are legendary! ;D word on the streets is that he has got a new frying pan that he needs to test Suitable tackle: you only need a floating line, a spool of 3+6lbs leader, 8-10ft rod for 3-7 line (you can even get away with a 10ft 7 weight). You will need waders of some description, along with plenty of warm clothing. This is a fairly basic list, but it's quite simple fishing really. As for fly patterns, check out some of the patterns I listed in the winter sporting activities thread. Also, you should carry pheasant tail nymhps and hare's ear nymphs, preferably with tungsten beads and some with flashbacks. For dries, a couple of klinkhammers along with some traditional adams should suffice. nymphs should be in sizes 10-16, and dries in 12-18. Some form of bite indicator can be useful if you haven't done much of it before, I find the putty type the easiest. Let us know who's interested asap please so that we can get things booked. TT.

Im definately up for it - This is the link for the accomodation - it will be limited numbers for those who want to stay over - www.trericket.co.uk/Unfortunately its not near a pub, however it doesnt preclude a few bevvies being bought along. There should be plenty of us to get a good atmosphere, plus some fly tying. Hoppy

Thanks for the update Dangler, typical. This would be a suitable alternative: www.stonecroft.co.uk/new/accommodation.htm#tarrifIt's ideally located for the Irfon, but I know nothing of its standard etc. Anyone been there/know of it? It can take a large group, and looks very reasonably priced - especially if we get a fair few to come. If there's 20 of us then it would be around £12 a night, and we get exclusive access to the place, if numbers are smaller then we are best booking per room basis as around £13.50 per night. TT.

Can you add myself and medicine to the list.
I'm not worried about the dates, just as long as it's over a weekend.
Hopefully Daz will keep me informed of any updates.
Cheers
