Hoppy I have indeed received the information from Highplains and read it through quickly. And yes I will discuss it with my colleagues because the basic aims are honourable. Some of your problems are somewhat different from ours but we have common interests and concerns. I have some reservations about how you go about things - it's not how I would do it - but that's your choice. I do however strongly advise a moderation on this forum of public criticism of anyone perceived to be the 'baddies' in all of this. Until I read your work, I was somewhat sceptical having read some of the opinions expressed. They give the totally wrong impression. I won't comment further on some postings - they spoke for themselves and were rightly deleted. It's very tempting to have a pop at someone on a forum and I always try to avoid it - honest.

I do however strongly advise a moderation on this forum of public criticism of anyone perceived to be the 'baddies' in all of this. Until I read your work, I was somewhat sceptical having read some of the opinions expressed. They give the totally wrong impression. Moderation - in this sense censoring of posts - is a tricky and sensitive issue. You only have to visit other sites (the FFF for example) to witness the angst that the issue causes! Moderation on this forum can be characterised as 'light touch', we have had issues in the past where 'discussion' has become personal and on rare occasions abusive. On those rare occasions moderation has been quick and transparent. The forum gives a platform for people to express their opinions on subjects that are often complex and sensitive - our relationship with the EA, poaching, C & R, stocking etc etc. There are times when the points of view expressed by posters can be perceived as extreme or their use of language / writing 'style' comes across as aggressive or confrontational. One of the difficulties or indeed dangers of forums such as this is that we just have the words - none of the other clues to meaning that are so important for understanding that we use in face to face conversation. Each is entitled to share their opinion. Often it doesn't mirror my opinion and I'm sure the same goes for Hoppy, Daz or Steff'. I would be very unhappy if opinions were to be moderated or censored if they didn't comply with a 'party line'. Criticism and argument is healthy and there is nothing in the public domain that is too 'precious' to be held up to account and question.

Thank you Paul,I wish that I could put things into words so expressive-and-concisely,like.Seriously though,Im glad that you moderaters are so moderate....it makes this forum a nice place to be,one that Im always glad to come back to...fair,everyone gets their say....your job cannot be easy to see that happens without things getting too personal....I dont envy you "mods" one little bit! Im glad that passions do run high sometimes,it shows the commitment we all have to our overall cause.....and Im glad of the light hand that Hoppy,TT,DAZ and yourself lay on the expression of those passions. United we stand, devided,we fall.....So,lets all tie some flys and go fishing PS...or in my case sign up to tie some for a swap and let everyone down by not doing it PPS. ......please sir! ;D ;D

Well well, just when you are expecting it least. Poaching is being carried out by organised gangs and they are doing it to make money. What a surprise. It would seem the BBC are joining in the Campaign. Could it be that there is only poaching across the boarder? I very much doubt it! Follow the link. news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7361526.stmThe news item concentrates on the poaching of deer, however the more detailed item on the telly made reference to the North East rivers and the poaching of salmon. Wake up EAW and start to make your case!

You wont need to catch poachers if they go ahead with the planned Severn Barrage. You wont have any fish above the barrage, and in the tidal pool the poachers have to fight with the seals and the cormerants for the fishes.I can see this every day at the Tees Barrage but the managers at British Waterways and the Envoirement Agency just sit and watch on their CCTV.<lochbois>.That is why highplains should be getting the support from every angler in Britain to support his campaigns. <lochbois>
