To Lochbois, thanks, I think I understand you and I also have items especially fishing items That I am loath to throw out for many a daft notion. Lucky jacket, hat, reel, rod etc. You have your own reasons and I respect that.

theres a NIKWAX prodoct that you can use to reproof breathables.I think its TK Direct wash in,but you/I will have to check. They do a soap based cleaner too.All this stuff is a fiver upwards a go,so any non detergent stuff that works cold like woolite will do,and handwash is best, whatever labels say. The wash in reproofer smells suspiciously like watered down PVA glue, chemistry aint my fing guv,but there may be something in this......goretex is the same stuff as that white tape you use for plumbing joint threads, which incidentally makes a good joint repair tape, but all this is in old threads if you look.....

Earlier on in this thread I mentioned that I had ordered a pair of Cloudveil 8X chesties from Sierra Trading Post in the good ol' US of A.
I placed the order on the 18th, received an email on the 21st to say they'd been dispatched and just a couple of minutes ago I had a phone call from UPS to say that they would like to deliver them tomorrow! Pretty impressive service I think you'd agree!
(For those interested, Customs. VAT, handling etc was £28.72. Total cost - all in £191.26)

Excellent price Paul and the taxman didn't take you for too much either. I'm going to try out the Vision Radipor (new 2008 model). I hope they're good and last a season or two. Let me know how you find the Cloudveil though. FA

I dont see £191-26 as an exellent price. For that price they should be good, and surelly they should last a season or two.I had the money to buy a pair of Orvis of the agent ,but i was shown the large amount that were being returned and like i said earlyer repaired my origional with Aqua-sure ,cost me £6 but this will be my 3 Season . The same person who i wanted to buy the Orvis waders of told me not to get Air -Flo .They had a very tempting review in the press ,but allegidly the person doing the magazine review had only gone up to their Knees on the test. For a £150 You can get a years fishing subscription into BAAC which allows you 24-7 fishing on the Tees & Wear for Salmon,Sea-Trout ,and Grayling.Nobody has convinced me ,but i think in a year or two the price will come down hopefully.

Really? Not even for waders that cost £250 in the States compared to Orvis Pro Guides that cost £269 here in the UK? I usually buy Orvis Pro Guides because of their excellent customer service - replacement without question and at no cost! The first pair I returned to Orvis lasted me 4 years - the current pair 2 years - so by simple math, 6 years use so far with one financial outlay with another 'free' pair on the way. Sounds like economy to me. On average 'cheap' breathables seem to last only a year or so and mine get some pretty hard use. I've bought the Cloudveils as a standby pair, having heard numerous reports of how rugged they are.

To Paul . i am living on incapacity so cannot buy a new pair,my point is that these manafactures are not telling the truth when they advertise 100 percent waterproof and 100 breathable, i was told to get Orvis which i have told you i tried, and then to return them on the eleventh month under the garauntee and they will replace them without any questions asked.I Have heared these lifetime warenties ,i broke the top section on my Hardy Fishing Rod which was supposed to have a life garauntee and it cost me £ 90 .I Hate these Rubber chest waders ifind they drain the energy at the end of a fishing session that is why when i had the money i was prepaired to give them a try.Does anybody know who makes the waders for ORVIS, Because they dont make all their fly reels .<paying for the name is what i am talking about>

As a rule I don't like paying too much for waders because they get a good hammering when walking along the river bank with all-sorts scraping and puncturing them. I found this web site www.sharkgroup.co.uk/country_neoprene.htmlTake a look, cheap! I haven't tried them yet but soon will cos my old pair have had there day.

Grommit on the Fly Forum is selling off Vision Radipor 2007 stock for £199 and the Vision Gillie 2007 for £129 if anyone is interested in getting a pair of breathables at a much reduced price.
