I have fished the Dee a fair bit in 2008 and it has been very difficult. Yesterday was no exception with high winds and few fish wanting to play! It is annoying that the canoe centre seem to release water nearly every weekend now - this really does take the edge off the fishing. The release water is very cold and I have noticed it looks dark, almost translucent black, its not cloudy at all? I'm sure this cold water must have some effect on the insect life in the river!
I had 2 medium sized grayling on a bug, and suprisingly lost a fish at the bottom of the beat
I'm sure this was down to the tiny flies I was using.
Still it wasn't a blank! But at the moment the dee isn't fishing like it should be?
Daz had a lovely trout - a rarity for this particular beat! Photos to follow.
