Will try to keep you all updated as soon as it drops off, other wise a 10ft uptide rod with a 6 0z grip lead should cope with czech nymphs on a running ledger rig!!!!!!!

Hi ya, I went out today at Radyr. Got a couple. I have only ever fished around Radyr and I was wondering if anyone can suggest anywhere else worth trying. Diolch Grunt Always worth a fish around Radyr, Grunt - holds a huge head of grayling, and a good head of big fish - probably partly due to the groundbating done by the coarse anglers on that beat. Some good fishing it to be had further down too, but it's quite near the city centre by then, and, at times, you can get some unwanted attention. Further up there's some fantastic fishing to be had too. Couple of clubs to look out for; Ospreys have got some water around the Upper Boat, just below Pontypridd. Fynnon Taff anglers have got quite a bit of water arounf the industrial estate etc. in the, funnily enough, Taffs Well area. Hope to be down at the weekend, so some updates from those living local would be much appreciated. TT.

I have been trying to use the Czeck nymph method but I'm not sure if I'm doing it right at all. I am casting upstream with 3 weighted nymphs but I'm not getting any takes until it has moved past me and the line has been caught by the current and is below me. Last Sunday I could only get takes fishing down and across and mending the line. Please can anyone help.

It may just be that you are getting bites but they are hard to detect. When bugging (although I admit I am in no way an expert) the bites can be really subtle as the fish takes the fly and quickly spits it out again. I may be wrong but I don't think they usually "turn" with the fly when fishing like this, so bites can be difficult to spot. Try wading as deep as you can to cover the fish with as short a line as possible (if it is a shallow river this won't be a problem) so bites are easier to see. If the line/indicator moves at all...strike!! TT, Hoppy and the other grayling boys will correct me if I'm wrong and give you some better advice I'm sure, but that's how I'd fish it.

Fished the Taff this morning for a couple of hours, river still running a few inches high but very clear landed about 20 grayling this morning.Quite a few small fish but also managed some mid 30 cm fish, Lost 2 crackers that swam out to mid river and used their dorsal fin to good effect(came off). Also a nice hatch of up winged flies light brown in colour. Grayling were not interested in czech nymphs all caught on white/grey gold heads. At the moment using libary P.C. as mine is down, so if anybody needs an update give me a ring on the mobile. sewinfly
