Christmas can be a tough time. However, entertaining the family proved a worthy cause in the end. Bought Dad a new Greys wading jacket for Christmas... and he insisted that he be allowed opportunity to test out its suitability today. That means fishing... "Hooray" - "Sorry love"... and all that, "Dont want to let the old guy down... not at his time of life" - did the trick too So... off to fish the little river Honddu - that most mercurial of streams. Not renowned for its grayling, but famed for its beauty and challenge. Started at the Monnow junction pool and worked up. "Ooh... suits you sir!" Great to see the old boy smile like this... he'll be 80 next month. Still, he sulked when I made him sit out the rest of the session for deliberately targetting the trout. Plenty of fish obliged but this has to be my best Honddu grayling: Came about 3:30pm to a little pink arsed number The river looked fantastic today. Cant wait for March. Best Dave

Andy, I have not caught them above Lower Stanton. There is a weir there which is impassable to grayling. You will be interested to hear that there are a couple of mouthwatering beats which will be available to all you guys next year courtesy of the WUF passport scheme, though not the beat
