May as well start a thread for the Wye and Tributaries, as I'm sure there'll be a few boys on here fishing them over the winter. Daz and I managed a day not too long ago on the Wye and the Irfon - which turned out to be too low and reduced to a trickle. It was a beautiful day, and some decent trout and grayling were landed. We had a bash on the Rocks beat on the Wye, and around the Cammarch on the Irfon. Some great sport was had on both the dries and nymphs - some superb fish seen, missed, and broken off on the Irfon. A couple of shots from the day from a person who's becoming an extremely competent grayling angler let's see him land a double figure grayling! ;D wouldn't put it passed him though The Irfon: The Wye: TT.

Excellent pictures TT; I would say that grayling angler (whoever he is) looks more than competant! Regards, Wm.

Nice pictures. Had a session on an extremely low Ithon today with my mate Rob. Rob fished the float, I fished the fly. The maggots and the chubber beat my bugs and dries. But only just, so long as you don't count the couple of dozen chub he caught as well. Expected to see one or two salmon around but nothing showing. Some of the pools had so little flow it was basically the same as fishing buzzers on a stillwater. Interesting to note that Rob, who's previous Grayling fishing has been on some prime chalk streams, was impressed by the size of the fish. I didn't think they were anything special, nice fish, but not a procession of 2lbers, either. But it is all a question of perspective. Those of us who are lucky enough to fish the wye, upper severn and welsh dee, sometimes take for granted the quality of our grayling stock. It is actually something very special indeed. One on the float an ithon salmon pool minus salmon A nice bronze Chub Tom

Nice one Tom, and Rob. I have only fished the Ithon once, but it's a lovely little river - very different in character to the Irfon.
They look decent sized Chub and Grayling.
TT.

Yep, almost like a mini version of the Towy in the area we were fishing (just above Llandrindod Wells).
