Fox is widely used for wings and tails on sea trout & salmon flies, if you haven't tried it then you should. Furriers, "Foxy-tails", selling on E-bay has to be the best deal ever for Arctic Fox, Sue, the lady on the business end, is an expert on fur, a lovely lady to deal with. the fastest deliverys i have ever found,(i have had a delivery before i put my pen down )Check this out gents, her prices are superb. i include a couple of pics of some of my own stock of "Foxy tails". Some colors are what i have dyed, but most are Susans. any one wanting a particular thing or a half tail, just has to E-mail, and Sue will sort it. Its the best quality. Some forum members are using Sue's material, and i'm sure they would agree with me, i have no connection to the business except as a customer, but i think all of you lads should know about Foxy Tails. Just type in "fox fur" in search and you will find The site, i will have a link to follow shortly.

Yes i have to agree. The fox tails are excellent. Very long hair which has plenty of the gaurd tips, not just the cotton wool underfur. The hair easily sits on a 3" tube or snake, reaching past the treble. This stuff really is much better than the material you get from the shops and you get 20x as much. SI, do you think the foxes are older when killed to get this kind of hair length or just from a colder area?

Hi Rio, No not older Rio, spot on mate with the colder, Sues fox is of Finish origins, a lot of fox sold comes from Canada, which is warmer, claiming to be arctic fox, but its not. Si

Hey Rio, You ever tried mink, Sue has some tails she's not long had, brilliant dubbing material, i like rabbit, but the problem is when wet it goes almost black when you use the darker colors. Mink dont do that, it stays quite bright, makes it brill for dubbed bodies, the body is best but pricy, nowt wrong with the tails though, and you can use the short guard hairs on small flies for fast water cos theyr'e stiff. Worth a look. John P.

Hi guys, winters coming, fly,s to be dressed, dont miss out on the best deal on E-bay, Foxy tails are offering a superb deal on FOX PLATE ie:body fur, its actualy neck, its wonderfully soft and mobile, colors tend toward great , its easier to dye than tail. The pieces Foxy-tails are selling are long in fibre, up to about a 2" tube size or a 2 longshank, for £3.99.....YOU GET ONE HELL OF A LUMP
the pic with the packet i bought from a leading supplier on, is the approx size of what you recieve from Foxy-tails for you compared to the packet, the packet cost me "£2.80 plus p&p FOXY-TAILS....£3.99, approx, as said, 4x as much. it really is superb quality, if you want the best, cheapest.. buy this.

Hi learnerdresser, there are many types of arctic fox, Silver fox, crystal fox, blue fox, and others, silver fox, as you have said tends, to be longer in fibre in general, but if your a beginner the blue fox dyed colors or white arctic fox dyed colors will do most of your needs, most folks go for the tail or tail sections, but smaller flies and flies for slack water situations when you have to move the lure to get some action will often benifit for being built from fox plate, that is the body fur, very soft and dense, lovely and soft loads of action, it pulsates in the water and gives a halo effect when light shines through it . I think i can safely say that Foxy tails gives the best deal on Ebay, plate or tail, as a starter the 40gm pack of 6 colors for £9.99 is good. You get a lot of fur in 40gms, the tail sections are also brilliant value. hope this helps.

Thanks for that I will have a look at what you recommend .I must admit I was a bit worried about eBay till I saw all your colours. Will give it a try. I suppose proof is in the pudding or fly, I will let you know if I catch anything with it. If I don't will be my dressing not the quality of supplies. Thanks for your help.
