Funny thing that, Andy. I was down on the Dunn and the Lambourne at the weekend, and went to see the Kennet (All of which seemed quite low for this time of the year?). Did see one mayfly make its clumsy first flight, and that was on a drizzly day so it's looking good for the weeks ahead. Some nice olive hatches about, and the trout were really going for them - great sport, even though they were mainly stockies The Kennet: River Dunn. A trout from the Dunn. The olives that were hatching: Best wishes. TT.

Not even a chublet! ;D Did see a couple of grayling in full-on spawning mode, but that was it. Not many deep holes for them to hide on the stretch where I was, but you never know.
TT.

The chub only really get going a little below the Hungerford Fishery (Kennet and Dunn, on which I once kept a rod), on the Avington Fishery (no, not the Hants stillwater). Fishers at Denford (Andy's days) will see a few yards of Avington's Kennet (opposite bank) between where the Road Stream and Flood Cut carriers flow in.

My little bit of river fished well yesterday , the fish were on the mayfly which were just tickling of ..We caught roach ,grayling ,browns and mainly rainbows ,all the larger fish fought extremely well, one fish took me into the backing ,not some thing that often happens on the chalk . Al of my fish came to water walker Mays and a large pale Klink as they were on the emergent stage . The scenery was gorgeous the trees just into full leaf,we saw buzzards a kite water voles stunning yellow irises and much more . lunch of steak sandwich,Kelly kettle tea and the odd drop of red was as always a good interchange of ideas banter and knowledge swapping ! there should be more mayfly hatching on the 11Th of June when I go again ,got a couple of spaces to join me !
