This may come as a surprise!
I have had my EA Licence checked twice this season, in the last 2 months.
Firstly on the Neath and secondly on the Dyfi.
I would like to say that it was a pleasure and i thank the officers involved.
Further to that, the Officer who checked my licence on the Dyfi was due to retire, and I beleive that yesterday was one of his last days at work, if not his last! So thankyou Emyr and good luck in your retirement!
I hope that EAW managers realise the commitment of their officers, and in particular Emyr who was still on the front line checking licences on his last day at work.
I look forward to meeting Emyr's replacement on the Dyfi catchment soon.
I beleive that Emyr's son is also a bailiff, and hopefully he will take over the area where his father left. It would be a waste of resource to give up such local knowledge and excellent contacts.
If Emyr was subject of Performance Development Reviews, then i would like to commend him in the area of 'Customer and Community Focus' - because checking my licence was only part of our meeting. He was extremely helpful in identifying what methods to fish, what areas to look at, and some ideas for the future. He took time out of his day to talk to us about the river, the fish and flies to use.
Having spoken to Emyr on one occassion previously, it was great to meet him in person. He was a true Gent.
So If the EAW managers are reading this, then 'You have a lost a good man in Emyr' and have a difficult task in finding someone to replace him. (However the answer may be very close).
So again, Pob luc Emyr, and Thank you
