The 10th Wales Business & Sustainability Awards (previously called the "Wales Environment Awards") - is now open for entries. The awards ceremony is one of the key events on the business calendar in Wales and the awards are accredited as one of the seven UK official feeder schemes for the European Business Awards for the Environment. The awards are supported by the Welsh Assembly Government. Any business or public sector organisation in Wales, that is proud of what it has achieved in the last year in terms of environmental improvements or sustainable working practices, can apply. This could be anything from reducing their utility costs through efficiency, increasing the biodiversity on their site, to implementing an environmental management system. Previous winners have ranged from a small business with three holiday cottages, to global big business. "The standard of the applications increases every year and it is very rewarding to visit the finalists and see the enthusiasm and hard work that organisations of all sizes have put in to their environmental projects," said Martin Turner, chairman of the judges for 2006. There 16 awards, including an overall winner. Deadline for entries is 13th July 2007. The ceremony will take place at two venues, in Cardiff and Wrexham, linked by satellite on 18th October.
