Environment Agency Wales Angling Events Team will be running an Introduction to Angling event at Dyffryn Springs Fishery, Home Farm, Dyffryn, near Cardiff this Saturday, 31 March between 10am and 2pm.
On this occasion the participants will be from the Welsh Dragon Burns Club, who are a charity organisation set up to engage young people who have suffered serious burn injuries in activities. On the day the youngsters will be introduced to a variety of methods of coarse fishing. Qualified angling club coaches and Agency staff will be ready to offer help and advice, as the youngsters try out the sport for themselves.
Across Wales, over 25,000 People of all ages have been introduced to angling through these taster days, over a four-year period. Participants have included schools, ethnic community groups, youth access groups, community link organisations, disabled groups and the general public.
We are committed to the promotion of angling, which is a healthy, therapeutic and worthwhile pastime. Participation in this sport encourages youngsters to gain respect for they're local environment as well as a sense of ownership of local rivers, and the wildlife that live in them. As a result of this, the future of angling and the environment will be protected for future generations.
