Environment Agency Wales Angling Events Team will be running an Introduction to Angling event at Cwm-Hedd Lakes, Bassaleg, near Newport on Wednesday 23rd August 2006 between 10am and 4pm . Environment Agency Wales Director, Chris Mills, a keen fisherman will be there, as well as World Fly Casting Champion Hywel Morgan, who will demonstrate casting techniques. Ospreys, Wales and British Lions rugby star Brent Cockbain will also be there.
Also in attendance will be Dafydd Evans, Head of Fisheries, Environment Agency and Andy Schofield, Sustainable Fishery Programme Manager, Environment Agency Wales.
As part of National Fishing Week (19 - 28 August 2006) people will be introduced to the art of fly-fishing and the excitement of coarse fishing. Other activities will include, angling workshops, casting clinics and cooking demonstrations. Qualified angling club coaches and Agency staff will be on hand to offer help and advice.
