To celebrate National Fishing Week, Porthcawl Angling Association in partnership with Environment Agency Wales is inviting everyone to 'have a go at fishing' at their event to be held at Wilderness Pond, Porthcawl on Tuesday 22 August 2006. The event is free and open to anyone from the complete novice to the lapsed angler. Tackle and bait will be provided and coaches will be on hand to show you how to set up and catch that fish of a lifetime. All participants on the day will also be entered into a raffle to win coarse fishing tackle. National Fishing Week runs from 19th - 28th of August. It's an annual event which aims to promote the sport of angling to everyone and to reach some of the thousands of would be anglers out there who want to try out fishing but are not sure how to get started. Philip Morgan, Environment Agency Wales Fisheries Officer said: 'The main aim of this event is to introduce people to the sport of angling. The event is open to everyone, so come and join us for a fun day in Porthcawl.' Howie Richards, Secretary for Porthcawl Angling Association added: 'This event will hopefully bring new anglers into the sport and demonstrate that fishing is a healthy and worthwhile pastime.' Places are going fast so please contact Environment Agency Wales on 01792 325617 to book a place and avoid disappointment.
