Environment Agency Wales are about to begin work to improve the water level gauging station at Pont Y Gwyddel, near St Asaph. The work, designed to provide better quality information on river levels for the Agency's flood warning service is due to start this month and finish by the end of the year.
The work will be carried out in two parts:-
· Phase One will involve the construction of a replacement weir under the bridge at Pont y Gwyddel.
· Phase Two will include the construction of a new gauging station on the right bank of the River Elwy and a new cableway to measure river flows.
Any questions about the work should be addressed to Katherine Morrison, Project Manager on 08708 506506. The contractors are Van Oord, whose site manager, Nigel Purchase can be contacted on 07740 394710.
