Hi all
Over the course of 2007 I will be tying several selections of flies with the theme changing on a (hopefully) monthly basis. All selections will be in a handmade wooden flybox that is roomy enough to hold all the patterns and add some more to as you go along. All flies are tied in the UK by myself and the emphasis on the selections is that all patterns are proven killers with no duff patterns or colours that you'd never use.
The first selection is 30 goldhead fritz tadpoles: Tied on quality Japanese longshank 8 hooks. This selection will be £15 and these flies are built to last with varnished underbodies, heads that are whip finished three times and several layers of varnish. An ideal selection for those starting rainbow trout fishing or those wanting a comprehensive range of proven killers in one box.
Future selections will be:
May- Small Blacks For Lakes, Lochs And Lyns. June- Clouser Collection July- Sea Trout selection
The price on each selection may vary due to material costs, meaning the 'Small blacks' will be less than £15 while the'Sea Trout Selection' may work out a pound or so more due to inclusion of trebles, jungle cock etc.
If anyone is interested get in touch via PM and I can reserve a set for you and ship as soon as they are ready which I estimate at around 10th April for the first set.
AND, to all you good folk of the Sea Trout Forum I'll throw in 4 or 5 free flies with every order.

Here's a pic of a set I made up for kingfisheryh02nxs. Not that great an image bit you get the idea- singles, doubles, wee double, wake lures, mini-snakes, tandems and secret weapons. I have to admit, a couple of patterns were (carbon copied from last years fly tying comp on here but they're such nice confidence inspiring patterns I had to include them- I'm especially fond of the big muddler.

I think thats a really nice idea.Im glad to see that spirits havent been dampened by the various scams we and the other forum (s) have been victim to.Lets face it,Bucks not going to retire on the proceeds, not for the money he's talking..... I find the exchange of patterns and flies really heatening.I might even be tempted myself! And I havent bought a fly other than as a pattern to copy for years Whos making the boxes and of what wood?Whats on the blacks for lakes list? shocks

Hi Shocker- The boxes are something I get from a local 'crafty' type- I can't say that she 100% makes them herself but for the price they are really quite canny- even if its as a box for the tying table. With regard to the 'small blacks' selection, I was thinking of traditional and small blacks that would be as suited on a Scottish loch or Cumbrian lake as they would on the likes of Tal y Lyn or perhaps one of the wild brown lakes down your way. So, I was thinking size 12-14 bibio, b&p spider, black pennel, hoppers, kate mclaren, zulu and so on. My main thinking was it would be a cost effective solution for those who are maybe not as dextrous as they once were or eyesight is failing. There'll be nothing in there that I wouldn't use myself on the likes of Cow Green in Teesdale, the Cumbrian lakes or the likes of Tal Y Lyn or Llyn Bugeilyn.

Bucko
Do you have any pics of your salmon flies. You never know you may have another order in the waiting.

Hi All And firstly apologies for any delay in replying to anyone who sent me a PM- you have replies today. Those of you that have ordered sets without specifying patterns should have a PM informing you that the sets are ready (just in time for the rivers fining down- touch wood), while those of you who have made enquiries via PM should also have a message. I make the flies to order (hence the timescale) and should any of you have special requirements please let me know. Anyway, here's a pic of a set that is ready for a forum member right now: (Please bear in mind that I'm hardly the best fly photographer) And, as they say- 'The proof is in the pudding': I opened my 2007 account on the morning of 17th June with this lovely 3lb Yorkshire Esk sea trout taken on my 'Big Butcher Snake' which can be seen on the bottom right corner of this selection. Many Thanks Ian

Received my Sea Trout fly selection from Bucko the other day. These are really good quality with good hooks and materials used. They represent excellent value for money and I would reccommend them to anyone. My set were even selected to suit the North East river I fish. Steve
