Experts in all the different fishing disciplines will be at this year’s Go Fishing Show, thanks to Hardy and Greys.
Visitors will not just be able to see and buy the company’s new products ahead of the new season but will be able to pick up tips from the best in the business.
Among the Hardy and Greys consultants already committed to attending the event at the NEC on March 16th-18th are former national and European fly-fishing champion Chris Ogborne, renowned carp fishing professional Lee Collings, as well as the latest big name to join the H&G camp – self-confessed obsessive carp angler Nick Helleur.
Meanwhile, members of Hardy and Greys’ Academy – including west country angler Nick Hart, seen last summer in BBC2’s Urban Chef TV series - will be at the arena’s outside casting area where members of the public will be able to receive casting tuition and try out rods before buying them. World champion carp angler Mitch Smith will also be there, demonstrating his skill at long distance casting across the lake.
Hardy and Greys Commercial Director Ian McCormack said that, as the first major consumer show of the year, Go Fishing was very important to the company.
“We have some phenomenal new products – from reels and rods to clothing and accessories – that I know will excite the visitors. But to us, shows like this are as much about attracting and encouraging newcomers to the sport and helping existing anglers to improve. That is why we take such a strong and experienced team with us to Birmingham.”
Among the new products being revealed at Go Fishing are two new additions to Hardy’s EWS clothing range – breathable waders and boots, the Hardy Marksman Fly Rod and Reels, the Zane Saltwater Rod and Reels, the Greys G-Tec Fly Rod and Reels, the new Chub Snooper Shelters and Bivvies, together with a host of other new luggage items, and Fishpond’s new versatile carry system the High Country Tech Pack.*
Said Ian McCormack: “Our products are designed and developed with the latest technologies matched with over 860 years fishing experience between the various product managers who are responsible for their existence. We continually strive to introduce innovative solutions to angling situations and each item is rigorously field-tested all over the world to ensure it is fit for purpose.
This is what makes Hardy and Greys different to other tackle manufacturers.”
*PRODUCT DETAILS
· The Zane Saltwater Rods and Reels represent the ultimate in saltwater fly fishing equipment but are also ideal for salmon, sea-trout and pike. The blanks are incredibly slim with powerful, fast actions, whilst the reels are incredible pieces of advanced engineering with a smooth open drag system, that can be easily flushed out after use, whilst having the power to stop a train. Manufactured to Hardy’s usual exacting standards, this new series performs as well as it looks.
· The EWS Breathable Waders and EWS Wading Boots are new additions for 2007 to Hardy’s EWS range of fishing-specific, technologically superior clothing. The waders are constructed from layers of laminated, breathable fabric and include a range of well thought out features including an EWS back support belt with 'D' ring wading staff/net attachment, numerous pockets, a lightweight removable shoulder strap system and a modular carry bag. The wading boots are made using the highest-grade leather and are light, strong, comfortable and easy to slide on and off. The sole features felt decorated with hard, stainless steel studs that give grip on the three killers – mud, weed-covered rocks and ice.
· Carefully targeting the experienced river fly angler, the Hardy Marksman Series of rods and reels is an exquisitely crafted range that will delight the most demanding river fly fisherman. The rods are supremely light and well balanced in the hand with sweet crisp actions - ideal for pinpoint accuracy when fishing dry flies or nymphs - and are available from 6’ #2 to 10’# #5. The reels, which complement the rods perfectly, come in #2/3, #3/4 and #4/5 sizes. In addition, there will be a Marksman Wooden Net available as useful links sell to the category.
· Available in two sizes only - 9’ #5 and 9’6 #7 - the new, high performance G-Tec Fly Rod Series is positioned at the top of the Greys’ range and features unique cosmetics and smooth, fast actions. To complement these exciting new rods is the G-Tec Fly Reel Series, available in three sizes, which are fully designed and engineered by the team in Alnwick and represent the best performance of any reels at the price.
· The new Chub Snooper Shelters are designed for the day session carp angler and, while being super lightweight and fast to erect, offer far more protection against the elements than a standard brolly. In addition, they can fully accommodate a bed chair and feature optional zip off fronts that allow their conversion to a bivvy. Available in both standard, or ‘Lite’ versions, the latter featuring super light 7001 Aluminium poles used in top mountaineering equipment, they represent superb value for money, starting from only £74.99
· Also new from Chub are over 22 items of luggage that have been carefully designed to offer real benefits to any carp angler. The new range encompasses everything from carryalls to cradles, rigger bags to chairs, and host of other accessories too numerous to mention, each featuring the new Chub logo and manufactured from the best quality materials for durability, practicality and strength. In addition, Chub will be launching two new rod ranges, the Vantage Carp Series and the Outkast Twin tip and 9’ Stalker rod.
· Fishpond’s High Country Tech Pack is a versatile carry system, which combines a large, full-featured fishing chest pack with a compact backpack that can double as a travel bag. The two components can be worn together or separately, so you decide how much gear to carry. The low profile design features an expandable main pocket, modular chest pack “docks” with compact backpack and includes numerous storage and organisation compartments.
