Just came back from my second trip to BC a month ago and caught about 20 chinook up to 28lbs on fly, and a chum, and a sockeye and sunburn. It was great but not as amazing as last year. And this is because August is the best time to get all the runs together. Ie catch Chinook, Coho, Sockeye, Pinks and lest I forget the prime steelhead run.
Next year I am planning a trip with a real difference. We are going to Kayak from Lake Babeen, along the Babeen river and down about 150kms to the Skeena. It is really wild, and we plan to stay in tents along the river. The river will be full of all types of fish including steelhead to 20lbs and rainbows to 8-10lbs on dry flies.
It will be a relatively cheap trip, probably about £1200-£1400 / person all in including flights, kayak hire, internal travel, food, bear buddy sleeping partners, beer etc. and of course a guide.
I would like to find about 10 enthusiasts to make a group and thefore make it cheaper for all of us.
Anyone seroiusly interested or alternatively we can fish the welsh rivers for the really occasional sewin upto 4lbs, by the way I have blanked this year (you can tell).
All the best
Marco
