i was just about to attach my reel to it, and it seems liketheres somthing missing at the butt, like a ring or somthing to attach the reel to. there is only to moveable bits of metal there, should there not be two bits to attach me reel to then the ring to tighten it on?

only needs to be slight to take a reel foot.Even so,if yr not happy probably best to do as you say. After all,you can see it,i cant.Just hope its not convoluted mail order.Try ringing the suplier and describing things to them, then they can talk you thru, then anything goes wrong is down to them

Here you go DBFH - this is what it should look like. This is a Sage XP with a Lamson Velocity attached. You'll see that the reel foot doesn't actually go very far into the recessed fitting under the bottom cork. I would be very surprised if there was anything wrong with either your rod or reel.

The do so at least once a year, and we submit because we rather like it." Johnson, Tysilio A. 1907. In the land of the beautiful trout. Foulis press. page 40. Summs most of us up nicely? TT.
