Siwt mae all !! I have just joined the forum after browsing here for a little while.I am already a member of the "other forum" but thought that the more info I pick up on any site will help me with this year"s fishing plans. I mainly fish the CHADAA waters of the Tywi but also like to poke about the smaller streams as well further West e.g Cynin,Cywin, Dewi Fawr,Taf(Upper) Gwili etc....& the Tawe in the East. In fact anywhere you are likely to come across sewin !! Looking forward to more informative articles & discussions.....you wont find me an arkward bu**er as Life is far too short !!!!! Ciao Chinook

TT & SI, TYVM for your warm welcome.I "m sure that I will find the forum helpful & informative......I"ve already done so !! One thing that struck me last week, whilst browsing, was the disusssion on Snake flies.Up until then I had never consciously heard of them as I am sorely out of practice on night fishing which I hope to redeem this year .About 3 years ago or so I decided to have a go at making a few Bass flies myself & I thought ,yes, bright shiny material so I went for Mylar .I then incorporated a treble hook ,some strong nylon within the body, to tie onto a ring & tied flashabou & deer hair in contrasting colours etc .Lo, and behold it seems I have come across a variant of a Snake !! .The only diff. I can see is the mount is made of braid .I was gobsmacked as I had never seen a photo of a Snake or heard of them ! So in my own little unprofessional way I had come across something that was well known to the true sewin afficionado.STRANGE !!!!!!!! Anyway it has not landed me a bass though I had one helluva take on it in a deep Loughor estuary pool.It could have been a bass or possibly a sewin ,known to inhabit these pools whilst waiting for the tide to make. I look forward to making further contributions in the near future. Ciao Chinook

Hi chinook, for some snakes mono is very useful and was used for a long time before braid became popular. Silverinvicta.

Hi white hunter, Not 100% sure about your 1st question. Have fished well bellow the railway bridge ,more or less to the sea with out any problems. I will try to,find out for you in the next few days. I fish the hoddem beat ,on the annan. fished it a lot over the last seven or eight years. I like to fish the upper beat wich is a bit qiueter, but had some nice fish from the goats, and pools above.Best fish so far was a 7and a half pound fish in the middle of may, a few years ago. Had a nice brownie of 4lb from the goats last year at 2am. B,A,B
