What are the best colors for sea trout fishing during daytime and during night ?

To be honest most of the time in my experience I have found that in high water during the day, when spinning is at its best, choice of colour is not usually that important. What is important is the size and weight of the lure, coupled with the speed, depth and direction that the angler fishes. I think that a lot of people spin far to slowly for sea trout, mimicking the traditional salmon style of fishing.
Back to colours of flying C's. I have caught fish on red, black, yellow and clear on the same day. I really think it is a matter of confidence. I reckon that my brother and I do 90% of our spinning with black and red (both with silver blades). Last summer with the constant high water was ideal for experimentation, and these colours seemed as consistent as anything. Black always gives me confidence, even in dirty water, as it is used to such great effect by sea anglers in catching predatory fish from the extremely limited visability of 200ft plus below the seas surface. This makes me feel pretty happy that it shows up well enough in a coloured river!
As far as spinning at night goes I am afraid I have no practical experience. I am sure in practical terms it would work and catch some fish. A word of caution though about spinning at night. I am pretty sure that a lot of fisheries do not allow spinning after dark.
Don't worry too much about colour. Pick something that gives you confidence and this will help you concentrate on fishing the lure effectively.
All the Best Phil

cmicol. You could have a thousand replies to your post, but none would be better than the advice Phil as given you!.....100% spot on IMHO!. DAZ. Just for the record.....When I did spin fish, black with a gold or copper blade I found to be most sucsesful.....Only because I used nothing else.

Daz, Brown envelope in the post mate. ;D If I could catch fish as consistently with the fly rod as the spinning gear I would be a happy man!

If i was limited to one colour it would be black, one thing to look out for when buying Flying C's is the hooks some are a joke and the slightest touch of a stone will take the point straight of.

Hey i havent written my two favourite words regarding sewin fishing yet this year (2008) so here they are: The best colour combination to use when spinning for sewin is the one you have SELF CONFIDENCE in. I think waddington has already mentioned this. ;D Tight Lines Aled

The first salmon of the year caught in Ireland was on the River Drowse and it was caught on a Black flying C with a Silver Blade, and probably because it's the only one the particular angler uses or has confidence in.

I agree with what all say about self confidence I have taken very few fish using f c's of any wieght, size or colour what works for me and always has is a No3Mepps black fury in fact I use f c's so little when I do think it would be a good time to try one I find they have started to melt and have welded themselves together. I know my choice is spurred by the fact a black fury caught my first Salmon and also it always seems to be working through the water properly no matter what the river state is.
