Wotcher - anyone know the equivalent to a Wet Cel 2 (2-3.5"/ps)? I'm assuming the S3 but the airflo stor4es don't specify...

No! JT.
The fast Intermediate is probably the equivalent of a Wet cell 2....Maybe a little faster from my own experience!.

Daz,
Sounds like you know your onions.
I already have a delta fast glass intermed - any idea how they compare?
Looking to replace the WC2 and also find a decent sinker for SWfing - I was finding airflo unforthcoming on this info.
So S3 is arbitrary rather than "3 inches per second" etc?

Can't help you on the Delta mate...Sorry!. Jon,the fast Inter is a excellent replacement for the Wet 2,theres very little in it!.In conditions where I would normally reach for the Wet 2,I never now,It's always the fast inter and it's caught me the odd fish or two. P.S...I do play around a bit with sinking braids on the end mind, depending on conditions. For the Salt water!.....You would do alot worst than the 40 + Expert....Hell of a casting line. I know Ian (Tuniwes) was looking for some advice on one of these and he bought one....I'm sure he will give you some advice on how it performed. The Di 3 is much quicker than the Wet 2.The stated sink rate on the Wet 2 is know where near 3.5"/ps,not on the ones I've ever owned anyway!.From my own experience of the wet cell it's quite a slow sinker...nice line mind. This is just a personal opinion/choice Jon.....I don't know if you can tell...But I'm a bit of a fan of the 40 + range. DAZ.

Daz,
Regarding sinking braids. Can you recommend a type and strength? Are they worth making up?
Thanks

Can't fault it, doesn't have any memory problems, nice running line and it shoots very well. I used it all season in the salt and will probably invest in an intermediate next season. Ian

Daz, Regarding sinking braids. Can you recommend a type and strength? Are they worth making up? Thanks Highplains Hi Al. Allan,The ones I use are the Worcestershire make!...The 7ft'ers. Scroll to the bottom of the page of this link. www.firsttackle.co.uk/acatalog/Fly_Leaders.htmlI find these ones very good!.They only have a stated b/s of 12lb but I have never had one give out on me,even when using 15lb b/s leader, and Pro gold at that, which is bloody strong stuff....The leader has always gone first. The one thing I do though!.....Is cut the braided loop off at the end and make my own!.Not make my own as such, but double it back and secure it with a nice whip finish. The original one on the leader is a bit fine for my liking, not much confidence in it strength wise and maybe this is were they get the stated 12lb b/s from. I have considered making my own lots of times but never get round to it. ..The other thing is that the leaders I use now last so long I don't think it's worth bothering.I don't think I've bought one for a couple of seasons, and I use them alot, and they are still fine. Probably my first choice in fly-line for night fishing nowdays, makes life sooooo much easier. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, but for punching a line in a tight corner with a roll cast, or for turning over big, cumbersome flies they are awesome when you get use to them - most people find it hard to feel the 'pull' when casting at night, you will certainly feel the 'pull' with the extreme version. Fast-Intermediate (clear) is a great line, and definitely as fast as the Wet-Cell 2. Much nicer line to use than the slow-intermediate. P.s. JT Yup - Airflo "sidestepped" the old AFTM section and so your WF8 is actually a SH9/SH10... Great for punching a line out over the salt or yanking back a lure on a reservoir but splashy presentation on rivers and seriously overgunning it. The running line is a real pain as well - tangles like a b*stard and so ill-advised for night fishing. Jon Why the change of heart? TT. p.s. the ones you identified on ebay are likely to be the older models with a different running line to the modern day ridge - not that it makes that much difference.

'Cos you lot keep banging on about 'em and mebbe me castings improved! ;D
Plus - for £25 I get two lines to trial - They may still not work out for my night fishing but I can't deny how much I liked the 40+ for the SWFFing I did.

p.s. if you are just getting two then I would recommend the floater and the fast-intermediate. If you are going to be using it primarily for lakes and in the sea then go for the longer head of the expert version. If you are going to largely use it on rivers then go for the extreme version.
TT.

Cheers Ian.
Thanks Steff - both are extreme rather than the professional versions.
I already have the delta fast glass which will do for the time being (lack of availability on the website) but paid £14 for the floater and £10 for the S5 sinker (for the salt)
I do have a concern about feeling takes off the running line and hopefully my experience of tangles/memory loops will be better this time around.
