I am having trouble finding materials for making flying c's. I am looking for quality tubing to buy in bulk, where is the best place to buy tubing? I am also looking for copper beads, tear drop beads and also beads that glow in the dark when they are charged with light. Where is the best place to find these sort of materials? I have managed to find plenty of american craft websites but not really anything special in the uk.... If someone could point me in the right direction......

John, they keep me busy during the closed season months,if your looking to make alot of your own spinners then keep an eye open at carboots and flea markets, you can pick bits and pieces up for pennies, like the tin in the pic below,it contains some brass mepp bodies, mepp blades, lead bodies and other mepp bits, paid 85p for it 2 weeks ago from a car boot, should be able to make at least a dozen spinners from it(less than 8p each). stumpy....

What a find!! I will definatley keep my eyes peeled....
Does anyone know of a uk company that specialises in latex tubing that is perfect to use with flying c's? I am not willing to pay spintec prices, i would rather buy differnt colours in bulk and then start selling a few to local anglers...

I'm afraid to say that in most businesses you have to buy materials before the actual making takes place i don't see how the prices are bad.(spintec) 3mm beads £7.60 per thousand ? thats enough for 500 flying c's to the right man, granted there is other bits & bobs but surely money needs to be spent to obtain goods in the 1st place its like tying flies - we all spend fortunes (like BFFI) to produce flies for our own needs but the rewards of catching on your own inventions etc often outway the cost. Personally i don't see how else you will obtain spinner making parts without buying them from someone Cicada gave a good list of suppliers and 1 is the manufacturer that supplies all components within Europe basically I used to buy alot of Mchardy's and i know many anglers highly rate Spintecs bodies but truth be told buying them already made was/is cheaper - in fact I don't know how many flying c makers make any money at all............ I have not made 1 for myself in at least 5 years! there is often good deals on ebay and occasionally complete kits with tool can be got this might help start you off. regards bb

Hi John, Have to agree with BB. You have to spend some money in the first place.. I use spintech and dont find them bad.. but I can buy em cheaper than making em..I make em for the pure fun of it...you can get some stuff cheap by waiting for the right deals, plus I can make stuff you cant buy... I just had a quick browse of the American sites...even with p&p there are some really good deals on em, especially for tubing, but you don't want to use Them??? I have dozens of blades of all kinds, all bought off Ebay very reasonably. Give you a tip.. ;D I have just seen a 100 ready made bodies for 2.5 - 3" Condoms under £7 on a SEA FISHING site... ? American though. If the postage is ok , I will have them.Deals are there... you have to do a bit of searching and waiting... it's still not that cheap to make your own even if you do Best of luck mate. Si
