Any recommendations for a half decent but reasonably priced pair of neoprenes ? I fancy a crack at the grayling this winter and dont fancy my nads frozen off. They wont get wet often so I dont want to spend a fortune.

I dont want to spend a fortune. I don't blame you mate. I would agree that quality comes at a price on lots of things, rods, reels etc!,but I will not fork out big money on waders anymore.I have gone down the road of paying a couple of hundred quid for waders, yes they look nice, but most of them have only lasted me a season, maybe a little longer. I bought myself a cheap pair of Ron Thomson's and they lasted me 3 seasons.....Not bad value for I think £50.I do give my waders a right hammering throughout a season, fishing most days/nights of the week, kneeling on gravel, climbing up and down steep banks etc!,so I don't really expect them to last me to long.Neoprene is neoprene to me...A £200 pair leak the same, and rip the same,as a £50 pair IMHO!. DAZ. P.S....I recently bought myself a couple of pairs of 3mm neoprene's from the states.Fit is very good, and the quality don't look to bad either. The best part was the price,£10 a pair....At that price I don't care if they only last a season. ;D They don't have anymore in stock or I would have sent you the link.Search some of the American sites....You'll find some real good deals on waders.

Daz you must have been one of the lucky ones if you managed to get a pair of Ron Thompsons that lasted 3 years.I had 4 pairs in less than a year and they all leaked Most of the anglers I've talked to on the riverbank have nothing good to say about RT waders. I have to agree with you Billy, I know a few lads that have had those £50 daiwa waders and they've been well satisfied.

Daz you must have been one of the lucky ones if you managed to get a pair of Ron Thompsons that lasted 3 years.. Your probably right tote. They are the only pair of Ron Thomson's I have ever bought (The only thing Ron Thomson I have ever bought) So I can't comment on anything else other than what I experienced with the pair I had. Maybe I was very lucky!. DAZ.

Cheers chaps
I had half made my mind up to go with the Daiwas because in my experience all Daiwa gear is pretty good and I'd seen a few bad reports about the RT's.
How are the Daiwa's size wise ? I cannot be having with anything too tight...not that I'm a chubber or anything,I just dont like tight fitting anything.
I wish I hadn't said that now !

If im honest i would not touch snowbee with a barge pole - i had untold trouble with my neoprenes and more recently my breathables.
I have now gone for Simms breathables and at the moment i am pleased with my G3's.
In fact the waders that gave me the best usage were Simms Neoprenes. When i first bought them they were over £200. They are now around £120 - they gave me 5 seasons use which is exceptional by any standard!

I too had a pair of Snowbee that were rubbish.Ended up more aquaseal than wader and eventually got binned.Currently on Vision and am very happy.
But being a winter wading virgin do I really need neoprenes or can I just layer underneath a pair of normal waders ? I really need to start spending my money on the fishing rather than the fishing gear.

Hi all, Tagging on this thread, using breathables in winter what thermal fleece type bib and brace undies do you use ? The only ones I've seen have been very cheap or very expensive. BR Grahamn[/quote The trick is to wear fleece next to the skin...dont put them on over anything else make sure they are the first layer..buy a reasonable weight set... you DONT have to pay the earth.A one piece is better than bib and brace. And dont forget a warm hat. Why bib and brace? ? So
