Are easy to use links for fast changing of flies (Mustad Quick Links or equivalent) safe and strong enough for sea trout fishing ?

Hi cmicol, Never used these links myself, never seen them sold for the bigger fish. only for trout, know you can get big trout but think these links are for the smaller fish might be wrong don't know, i myself would keep using a grinner knot or what ever knot you like to use. Dai

I have seen rainbows up to 14lb landed on em... but i would not like to trust em on a decent Sewin, have used one, took it off after about ten mins, was,nt happy using it....I only know two lads who seem to use em regular..

the links are strong enough, even in the small sizes, but only as strong as the knot you use! I found them slower to change a fly with than re-knotting so if I want extra action in a fly I use a grinner and loosen the loop (in the dark) or tie a rapala knot if I can see it so,in the nicest possible way,get knotted ;D ;D ;D light hearted shocks

Will go along with shocker, about the rapala knot great for giving you fly more movement. use it a lot with snake flies..

I use the same link now.....have used similar ones for several years.. cant fault the Fox or others... excellent Si.... Fox are probably the best out there though SI. It's about the only one you can get that has the open loop system, most other incorporate the locking mechanism within the loop, thus inhibiting the movement of the e.g. Rapala. Berkely make a really good one too, but they are quite hard to get hold of in the UK without the swivel attached at the other end. TT.
