Hi Guys,
Seeing another load of gear going missing through theft I have just put a webpage on my chips4fish site on which to list stolen gear. If you have lost any gear within say the past 6 months then send me a email/pm with the details and photo's if possible and I will add it to th epage and see if we can turn up anything with a bit of national coverage.
No names will appear just the listed gear and a ref number to allow me to ID against a possible owner. Each entry will have it's own box and it would perhaps be useful to know where it was lost from (not for publication if it was a venue named but the area would be shown).
Now, for the pessimists among you - yes! you're right, we probably won't turn up anything. But we certainly won't if we don't even try!

Mrchips post raises a few important points that I have been thinking about lately. It has occurred to me that having collected a 'few bits' of tackle over the years it might be a sensible idea to photograph the key, expensive bits, rods, reels etc. A picture of the rod or reel with a note of cost, serial numbers, date of purchase and who purchased from etc would be mighty powerful evidence for insurers if, God forbid, some tealeaf makes off with the precious goodies. (A word of caution - probably a good idea to keep such privileged information away from the significant other in your life in order to avoid the additional costs of divorce!). I'm fully intending to create a small file for myself - just in case!

What a good idea, something I keep intending to do. don't forget to save it to c.d. in case they steal your computer as well.

I would say microchip it as well because anything that can be seen can be altered or erased perhaps but a chip is your hidden ID. BUT I'M BIASED!
