Great idea Billy they do one on the salmon website, with the price of lines and the variety of choice to help confuse us all so a line pool would be excellent.

hi john ,i would try to get some donations of lines or if anybody would like to donate a certain line for people to try out before buy, the user has to pay the postage then post what they thought of it and return the line to the pool what do you think john

Hi Billy, do you think there really enough scope? i mean with the respect to salmon fishing there is massive choice of lines in various weights and profiles, sewin fishing on the other hand is perhaps a little less comlicated........ Ian

Personally I think it's a great idea. It's worked really well on the salmon forum. Salmosalar (i don't know how to do that link hypertext thing!!) And even if there is only 5 or 6 lines that would be considered suitable for sea trout fishing, at £30 to £50 a pop, it's a lot cheaper to fork out for postage than trial and error at your own expense.
You could even try and sweet talk the manufacturers themselves to donate lines to the pool.

Guys, the idea is good, but this was mooted last year and nothing came to pass......The idea of getting lines donated by a dealer is good but i am afraid that i would be advising a returnable less postage deposit equal to the price of the line, off anyone wanting to borrow ANY line old or new.....over a thousand members now!! most never post, all would be allowed to ask for lines???..... Billy remember a certain con man last year...twice..... ?? i know i would never take another on trust... without money up front... you have to find someone trustful to agree to run the thing... again not easy to do...all interested would have to be in agreement who ran it....its not as easy as it all sounds the idea is good...........BUT? I think some definite plan and ideas need to be forwarded and discussed if it has any chance of succeeding..... Si
