Have you ever had one fail on you?or have you ever heard of one failing?
It looks a fairly sturdy connection to me,I must give that one ago.
Cheers.

I presume the Knot is the knot i have always known as the Ritz loop? as thats the only one i know that stands straight off the end of the main line.....Ritz cos i saw it first in one of C. Ritz's excellent books, an excellent way of making a loop. Thanks for sharing it with us Whitehunter.

Hi Lee, yep it's the same knot, its the only one i ever use now for loops. thanks. John P. Whoops, i have just found a previous post of mine about this knot, Mr Dunstan ably described it for me, sorry Mr D, i must apologise for forgetting, and to you Lee for wasting your time. Good heavens i must have had a senior moment , my thoughts were more on the join than the knot. Paul and myself actualy read of it in the same Ritz book. SORRY John P.

Excellent thread and great work Lee. For the less confident DIYers there is available Rio Shooting Line (see below). This is .030", intermediate line. It's very durable, supple and memory free. Have a look at the welded loops. At the backing end there's a small and very neat loop but at the business end where you'd attached the shooting head there's a very large loop - probably about 5" long. This large loop allows you to change heads very easily, simply by using a loop to loop system and passing the coiled shooting head through the large loop on the shooting line. The long loop also means a smooth passage through the rod rings
