Mike, that is cracking!
I know of a chap who lives near Wombourne in the Midlands who builds his own reels with Aluminium! But perhaps that is a little advanced....but perhaps worth a try.
I have been thinking of making a collapsable wading stick, similar to the Simms version, based on the principal of a dome tent strutt, but materials seem a little difficult to come by?
Nice ideas though

Found it! $14.00 Ready made tube, just need some Heavy Duty Bungee elastic, teflon paint and a handle! Hoppy
