Hi All, Visited Glasgow Angling Centre on saturday as I was on a long weekend in Scotland. Did a deal with the wife that if she navigated there I would endure a couple of hours of mind-numbing boredom at IKEA . . Well it a huge shop with a huge choice. I guess there is about a 20-30m long wall just dedicated to spinners and plugs for instance and a respectable section on echo sounders/fish finders etc! Virtually all kinds of everything. Ended up buying a stack of small items at reasonable prices (apart from the £12 pike plug my son smuggled into the basket!) It would be a great place to visit before buing a new rod or reel as you can see and (i think) try out all the various items before purchase. I came away with the impression that a lot of the cheaper gear (Daiwa, Okuma etc) is pretty good when put alongside some of the more expensive competition. Saw the Lamson reels too - they do look good. Its on the web: www.fishingmegastore.com/I found it really difficult to find, not being used to Glasgow driving but I see there is a map in the latest Trout and Salmon. BTW I have no connection with this shop!

I decided to buy a lee wulff fly line online from Glasgow Angling Centre before Christmas and just as I was about to pay realised they were charging me £5.00 for P & P.
It was quite frankly a blatant ripoff!
If Sportfish can do it for £1.50 why can't GAC?

My friend from Yorkshire ordered some fly-tying gear from them and he said that we was more than happy with what he got back. He even ordered some capes from them mail order, which he and I usually hate doing, but he said that they were of great quality (just standard neck capes I think). I have seen that they now produce a catalogue just for fly-tying too, worth a look?
