Anybody know which the best line for a double hander rated 9/10 would be.
Thinking of a Rio Windcutter Spey at the moment.
Any ideas welcomed, where to find the line cheap also welcomed.

i've been using the windcutter multi-tips for a few years now & personally think they're excellent. they're certainly a lot of cash for 'a line', but they are very versatile (more so than any of the other multi tips on the market) and remove/reduce the need for carrying several lines/reels/spools.
sadly, i've not found anywhere that does them for less than 10% off retail price.

Try the Cortland Spey Change-a-Tips. They have the 15ft tips (longer than some others) and include 4 tips (float/intermed/sink/fast sink). Can be had for around £80 or less if you are lucky. I have made up extra tips to cover 'extremes'. One reel, one line to cover all eventualities.

I would avoid the windcutter and other short bellied lines. True, they work in some situations and they do produce quick results for new comers to Speycasters, but if you learn with a short headed line you find it difficult to progress. It does not really mattter where you drop the anchor, or how just land it in a heap the form a D and belt it out. Bit like a 1000g Toby really.
Take lessons from a good traditional caster then when the basics are right you wil be able to cast anywhere with anything.
Andy Wren is another who learnt with a DT.

Hoppy , Malcom is right ,try a DT first and most of the other lines can be cast with ,i dont like the really short heads . maybe the next time we meet on teifi I could run you through the basics with the longer rods .

Hi Paul, purchased the "snowbee 3D floating 9/10 last summer, use it on a 13'4" D/hander. Cant praise the line enough, for a shorter rod it may be wiser to try the 2D line which has a shorter head (62') fishingpip.
