I use stockingfoot waders and am keen to get views on the best wading boots to go with them.
Ideally, for the Towy, you need boots that can handle a rocky river side or river bed but that can also get you up a very muddy, slippery bank in pitch darkness.
So far I've tried a cheap pair from Snowbee (bad) and an expensive pair from Orvis (good for the most part but have abruptly fallen apart after just one season).
Any thoughts?

Can't suggest a good type of boot, but this year for the first time i used a felt sole boot with studs on the heel. The combination has worked well for me. Cheers Aled

Steffan,
I have Simms Guide boots, leather uppers and a felt sole with metal studs - they are great.
They arent to hot on wet grass and you do still need to be careful, but in the water they are a must.

I've used the Vision Extremes for a year now and they're still like new, these are the ones with the felt sole but with a bit of a rubber heel and toe area so they make walking on muddy banks a bit better than the usual Franz Klammer impersonations I used to do in my pure felt soled ones.
( for the younger readers, Franz Klammer was a famous chap who slid down hills with planks on his feet )
