I have just been informed that the poachers have been out around Ruthin, unsure where, they took several fish the best of which was a 12lb salmon. Also active above Bontucle weir.
Great - still we have no poaching problem!!!!!!!!!!
I will post any further reports I get. They may be anecdotal but they will be, like this from a good reliable source.
Fed up.

Please find attached part copies of two emails I have received from Andy Schofield of the EAW. Generally when posting copies such as this I would do so without comment. However in this case I hope you will note that the opinions of the enforcement staff have been sought and further that these front line staff have confirmed that they generally agree with the issues we have been raising. I have no wish to attempt to put words in Andy Schofield's mouth, but it does seem that the issues we have been raising are being taken seriously.
It would be good to hear from any of the front line lads that were present at that meeting.
Copy emails start now:
Andy Schofield says:
I would disagree that we disagree (if you'll pardon the phrase !). I recognise that there are some serious issues to be resolved - as do WAG - and that was the reason for the review. The enforcement issue is a high priority for our Regional Director who along with myself attended a workshop with our enforcement staff two weeks ago. The comments of our operational staff are very similar to those of our customers such as yourself although there was some disagreement between them over the levels of illegal activity taking place in various catchments. Trying to quantify this is clearly important and something that the review is looking at.
Second email
Andy Schofield says:
I've no problem with making it known that we've met with the operational enforcement staff - who, being on the ground are the professionals. Their views, together with those of the anglers are extremely valuable and certainly provide the evidence of need for further action in several areas of our work.
End of copy emails
All the best

It is now time for WAG to sit up and listen! Its time they recognised that they have a fantastic natural resource, and that it needs protecting from all angles. I really do think its time for a separate fisheries group, that are only interested in angling, not others EA business such as fly tipping etc. However we must remain focussed and continue to campaign to protect the stocks of fish.
