Dear all,
In the next few weeks the forum will be moving. I will be posting the new web address when i have tweaked it al little bit.
In the interests of an ever-expanding membership and to provide stability, continuity and especially security for our members I have decided to move the forum.
I would ask that members old and new to visit the new forum and register and continue in adding to the wealth of informative advice and articles currently to be found here.
The decision to move away from the ProBoards format was twofold. Firstly one of security, being a free site and one of over 2.5 million message boards that ProBoards host, it wasn’t secure. There have been many instances of ProBoards closing down a board without warning due to complaints being lodged against the board for whatever reason. They have too many boards to investigate complaints and choose merely to terminate the board once a set number of complaints has been recieved as it is easier, they make this clear in their terms of service. Im afraid that events in the last 6 months have made the closure of the forum a strong possibility.
If this were to happen, then all posts would be lost forever with no chance of recovery.
I have purchased the v-bulletin software and hosted it on another server. The forum will be ad-free, and will have better facilities than the proboards version. There will be opportunities for advertising in the future.
It is far more secure and should never run the risk of disappearing.
From the date of closure the proboards site will be locked, but will still remain viewable to all members. This means that the information will not be lost.
I may try to copy some of the threads over, but i can not take all of the information over as proboards do not appear to back up the system.
I will be posting more details soon, as well as taking the opportunity to pm and email all members.
I appreciate that some members may not like the look and feel of the new site, but please give it time.
Thanks all for getting this site to where it is now without the members this site wouldn't have become as successful as it is today. I hope the new site will move the forum further forward and provide more opportunities in the future.
I hope that when the new site goes live it will grow quickly, i would also ask that current members help spread the word and encourage new users to register.
Thank you all
Hoppy & the moderation team.
