I think it has been mentioned on this forum before (by Hoppy maybe??) but I have just rediscovered scooby tubing for the backs of shrimps. Really useful - just cut down the length of the tube and flatten it out - a variety of colours and cheap as chips!

T7, if you split the tube into thin strips and then wrap around the body of a fly they look quite good. I've had a few Grayling this year on a red sparkly scooby tune body wrapped over lead wire and varnished a few times. Similar to a superglue buzzer, but better segmentation. Hoppy

Nice selection of flies and colour there SI, Tastey bugs Below is a very small selection of the stuff I like to throw at the Grayling, they are klinkhammers in variours shades/sizes, spiders, small nymphs, heavilly weighted polyphemus, woven nymphs, pink foil backed shrimp, Rhyacophila A fly I havn't got on the shot is a starlmagwonder its a very small pattern does OK when they are on small midges/smuts. Load of shite! ;D Fair play Steve, those are stunning looking flies - I especially like the layered back shrimp pattern, that sure is some craftsmanship! I'd be too afraid to lose them on trout/grayling! ;D See you soon mate, hope we can test run them. TT. P.s. Bap; not bad flies for an old codger nice looking loop-wings.

Very nice yourself Steve....my favorite method is the short line spider...I will put some spiders up when I get around to dressing em ( all my boxes are in Wales at the moment) I want to dress a few variations for this winter anyway, I have a few different materials to try I also want to try some tiny fry patterns for the Grayling.....I expect them to fish very very well I just hope I can get out a few times. Bap...

Here it is steff, I first knocked one up yonks ago, very simple Black thread, dubbed Magpie Tail Fibre for body, and a white tipped Starling body feather laid flat over body, and the end of same feather wound on as a very sparse hackle. Its not a brilliant pic but something to work off if your thinking of doing some. The name comes from the components, also my initials. Starl (Starling) Mag (Magpie) Wonder SMW

p.s. Steve, how have you constructed the back of that shrimp? have you looped the shellback and dubbed in between?
Steff.
