Hi fella's Firstly may I please extend my thanks to Hoppy for doing all the legwork regarding the organisation of this trip.....Thanks mate, a job well done.....!!! If you have never been before, i can assure you that Denmark is a beautifull country to fish, the prices are very reasonable and the people are spot on.... I would also like to say a huge thankyou to my freinds Peter Jensen and Lasse Karlsson of whom took the time to meet up with us to offer advice through local knowledge.... Lasse/Peter ....be assured i will be back before the year is out dudes......... Ok... On friday our group fished Strib Lighthouse, a convenient mark easily within reach, not a bad place to start i guess.. A sea trout took the fly on the forth cast, and i thought here we go!!!! only for it to fall off about 10 seconds later... my hopes of plenty of fish for the entire group were running high following this... i dont think nothing much else happened at this location "except for the arrival of Lasse , so another mark was fished, "without any takes or success, although i did get this image of Steffan casting a rather unique and puzzling odd shaped loop..... ;D " back to the digs to prepare for the evening outing..... more...............

I am so sorry I couldn't make the trip guys - unfortunately my alcohlic foul mouthed twin brother who can't fish to save his life stole my passport and went in my place - I hope he didn't misbehave. Never mind I hope to join you all next year.

After a shootout back at the digs in the afternoon, that evening saw Lasse blast off and take us to Toro "cant suss out how to get up the last O with a line through it mate"... A mark that looked like a timeless place, ideally right out of the way from civilisation, an ancient cross the only feature for miles around... just the kinda place we had come to all this way to try.... After being beaten to the best location on the mark by 3 locals who were spinning......."who also might aswell of ran up to it once they seen us coming ;D", we proceeded to start to fish further up... Lasse had two takes whilst fishing over reef and we worked our way down to the location where lasse wanted to initially take us...... "after one of the three locals decided it would be a good time to go for a swim fully clothed and whilst still holding his rod..... ;D ;D" At around 9.30pm two plucks of the fly following a long range shot with the shooting head saw a good solid take.. This fish felt very lively, running over short distances.... and trying to back out onto the beach with waves trying to knock you over whilst holding onto this fish proved to be very exiting, this is what we came for, i gave the guys a whistle and they started to work their way over... The fish was about 15ft from the shore as the guys approached and Im thinking this is a done deal, but im sure it was hoppy who cursed the job when he got out his camera.... ;D, this smallish fish probably a shade over a couple of pounds decided enough was enough and very politely with a shake of his head causing the usual comotion on the surface, the line went slack and he was gone..... We fished on and prior to Lasse's departure, being a fellow casting geek, he couldnt resist having a couple of throws with my setup... A major highlight of the weekend for me was seeing him make that line disappear off into the horizon..... and then he was gone too..... Myself, Hoppy, Roland and Paul Askew continued to fish on down the mark searching the water and as the light faded very rapidly, another fish took one of Peter jensens tan crazy charlies... Again, a few short runs and again it was dropped...... Nothing else followed this for me personally that night and at 11.30 it was time for a beer Given that we all arranged to get up at 6.30 the following morning, staying up drinking with Norsy, Steve and Ian till about 4.30am was obviously the brightest idea of the weekend.... ;D

Saturday was somewhat blurry.......and somewhat fishless for most people, exept master angler Steff of course who came up trumps and managed to finally land a huge Baltic monster following a monumental struggle as the light faded........ As all this exitement was going down, back at the digs Steve was obviously suffering from all the days imaginary intense salt fly activity ....... ;D "You did say this morning as I left, you were gonna be on the forum today mate, and i agreed didnt I?....." ;D

I am have having huge problems with my internet connection so i will try to post some pics etc later. To be honest I did enjoy myself after a rocky start! It was very stressful and I did feel that I had let all of you down - due to the organisation. We should have had 1 car per house, and we should have had 4 houses. Still Denmark is a beautiful country and the help that we received from PV Jensen, Lasse, Steffen Hinchley & Christian was brilliant, we were made to feel very welcome. Niels couldnt make it due to ill health - get well soon mate and thanks for the DVDs - the best fishing video i have ever seen! The accomodation was good, the food reasonable and the hire cars ok, bar the handbrake and the fact that the steering wheel was on the wrongside The fishing was hard, the fish just weren't there in any numbers. I did have a take off a fish of around 3/4lb but it wasn't hooked. On Saturday i lost a better fish in the weed, i would have said it was between 2 - 3lbs, however Davearmes said it was around 1.5lbs. He must have good eyesight as i'd waded 15 yrds out, and the light was poor! He was stood on the bank behind me! I think i saw around 8 fish in the whole time we were there. Dave did manage some fish on the trip prior to us arriving - 17 garfish, a sea trout and a grayling. He also caught a small flatty whilst we were there, and a further sea trout that we did not see. I was very interested in the rig he was using a large controller, mackerel feathers and a lead? He said it was a good way to catch, but i am not entirely convinced. I did have a few cod and a specimen starfish on bait, but as for the fly it was a no show. I just dont know what the problem was with the fish, i hope that it isn't too serious, but the local anglers said that the fish just weren't there. I am interested to find out what a normal season is? How many anglers catch? - I dont think we did anything wrong. I have to thank the following people:- Norsy & Starmagwonder - For the entertainment. Steff - For helping out Paulaskew & Roland - For cooking IanMcD - For being a lovely chap and for helping tidy up Davewinter & Phil - for just getting on with it Wasdale - for the instruction lessons. They made the trip for a few of the guys. For 3hrs all they spoke about was your casting. You will certainly get some customers from it. Starmagwonder - i am wondering when the anglo-welsh sea angling competition programmer will be aired? I have to apologise to the following persons - Apprentice2, Blackbob, Dangler, John & Tuniwes - sorry for not spending more time with you guys - i hope that you all had a good time, sorry we didnt get the chance to have the craic. Sorry it was a crowded house! Cicada, Greg Hutton Phil etc - sorry we didn't catch up at all. It was hectic, and to be fair at the beginning pretty much unorganised! Sorry for that its my fault - again i hope that you managed to have a good time. I would go back, and im sure that there will be some other trips in the future, but they will be organised differently!!!!! Im glad the stress is finally over. I did manage to dry myself with a bath towel this morning which was a novelty! Looking forward to getting home to have a lovely bowl of Ragu! Hoppy

Thanks Hoppy for a memorable ( but fishless) holiday. I am sorry I didn't get to say goodbye to everybody at the Gatwick scrum.
Thanks to all the group with a special mention to the rest of Cabin 185, (even including those who went native and caught garfish.) I am even beginning to think I may have enjoyed my short baltic swim.

That goes from me also, trip wouldnt of gone ahead without you Enjoyed meeting up with forum members and having a good time out there. Although no Sea Trout landed did manage to get hold of a couple, if only for a few seconds, with a couple of Garfish on the bank I can honestly say I didnt blank . Nice one mate ! Thanks to Wasdale for the transport, Much appretiated, Norsy for the cooking, and Steff and Ian, the housemaids, and to a certain traveller who has given me faith, I now know what a total nutter looks and acts like for real ;D ;D Hope you all got home ok, until next time, its tight lines to you all. First of all thanks Hoppy for making the trip possible, it never would have happened without your drive organisation and effort. Ok, the fish never showed up but I guess that's sea trouting, not the first beating we've taken and I'm sure it won't be the last. Thanks to Norsy for rustling up some great tuckerand to Steve for taking on the driving(I slept through most of it ). Also to both of you for the non stop banter. I think there were actually three "nutcases" on the trip ;D ;D ;D A special thanks to Lee and Lasse for a masterclass in throwing a line out. When it looks that effortless and gracefull you know you'r watching someone at the top of their game. Thanks Steff for the company on the 11 hours or so on the coach and for once again showing us how it should be done. Behind that unassuming modesty lies a steely determination to be the best and rarely does it let you down A special thanks also to the Danish boys for their company and advice. This for me was the highlight of the fishing, the sunset at Tora and the one time we did see some decent fish move. Alas it wasn't to be and I can only imagine what it would be like when the fish are about. Thanks Guys Ian

Can i just start by saying thanks Hoppy for putting 200% into this trip and iam sure all the other guys like myself feel you do not have to say sorry for anything as we all know were the problem was. All so i can't put any photo's on as my camara seems to be missing along with other item's belonging to members of this trip. So if anyone find's a CAMERA. JACKET. TRAVEL ROD. HOPPY'S FLYS. Please return them to there owners ( you BA****D). . But putting all this aside i think we all had a good time and made the most of what can only be called hard fishing .Well for most of us anyway as 17 garfish '1 seatrout and a grayling all cought on a set of float fished feathers when two top guys like Lasse Karlsson and petter Jensen along with the rest of us could not conect with fish says something .. So well done mate. So thanks lads for a good time and hope to see you all soon ( well mabe not all) . Norsy.

Nice one Norsy - perhaps some kind of "NO THIEVING SELFISH MISFIT LIARS" exclusion rule may be appropriate for next time!!

Thanks Hoppy for all your work organising such an interesting, if frustratingly fishless (the 'Prince of fish' I mean) trip. My missus politely ate some garfish last night but I know what she was really thinking!! For all the long anticipation of us sea-trout starved nutters, people were remarkably philosophical.....indeed some were prepared to invest in the killer lugworm to at least catch something! So I say it worked out extremely well for an experimental mass outing. Let's hope the Danes don't suffer as many of us did last year from a non-arrival. Thanks, too, for your driving. By the end, Hoppy, you were a natural....remember it's now keep on the left for the time being! Great to meet the rest of the lads and to see the reports and pictures so far. Now for a go at some UK specimens in more familiar surroundings. Best wishes to all, Paul A.

Thinking about this trip kept me cheerful all through the winter and it didn't disappoint. To catch some sea trout would of been perfect but hey!,so what..If we were that bothered,we'd all be hammering the tame rainbows in the local stew pond. You did a great job of organising Hoppy and if it wasn't for you, most of us would be day dreaming about it rather than out there giving it a crack.
I'd like to thank Lee for the brilliant casting sessions..what a star!..you're a born teacher mate and you richly deserve to make a successful career at it .
Thanks to you all but especially the blokes in 185. Dangler for all the anecdotes,Clarky for his wisdom,Paul for his culinary skills and Brian for putting up with my snoring....and Dave, you're right, your brother is a real pain in the arse!.

Thanks Hoppy for all your efforts on our behalf... enjoyed the trip very much and meeting you all. An experience not to be missed; the mix ensured that I learned a lot To those I brusquely said cheerio to at Gatwick and those I didn't I apologise and plead that I only had 2 minutes to run to my coach after picking up my luggage (well, what passes for running at my age ) A few pics that came out on my camera ... Fly inspection - Tuniwes, Peter, Lee Hindsholm search party... ... the search continues (find the cruising porpoise ) ... even the local Eider Family Hindsholm joined in ... and the cooks Roland and Paul who kept us going

Thank you Hoppy for inspiring us all to make the trek to Denmark. Perhaps there were times when we all felt this picture summed up the fishing but when you see water like this (No. 23 Risinge Hoved), it's easy to get enthused again. In Chalet 124 we dined well... hung out with the best... And did everyone hit their head on these? I hope there's a next time when I suggest the transport is 25 Scooters and we can cover all 117 Fishing Spots on Day One for signs of the elusive sea trout.
