Once had a night on the river Karup, small clear but deep stream. Didn't catch anything, infact was beginning to wonder if there really were any sea trout in the river before all hell broke loose and a chap on the other bank landed a fish of 6kg! Great part of the world, recommend a visit.

Mike,
The Fyn does look like excellent fishing, and the accomodation looks good.
The only problem is getting to Fyn from the UK?
Any ideas?

Mike,
Is the Fyn notably better fishing than Aarhus?
It may be that we could consider Fyn, but this would obviously mean hire cars etc.
I will have a look for cheap flights to Fyn.

The fishing can be very good in lots of places, including the main coastline of West Denmark, but it is weather dependent. The advantage of fishing on an island, is that one may choose spots accordingly.
We would need transport in any case, and minibusses or similar would seem appropriate.
I have some bad news anyway. I took my heavy goods/passenger renewal test yesterday. I hardly use it at all, ( I am now retired in any case), but I thought it would be nice to keep it. I passed the test alright, but failed the medical. It seems the borreliosis I had has affected my eyes adversely.
Now this would not really be a problem, but my normal driving licence has also been suspended. I have no idea when, or even whether I will get it back. This makes a lot of things very very difficult for me. To say the least!
I can still get to Denmark no problem, on the train, but then I am forced to rely either on other people with cars etc, or on my feet! This, ( if it proves impossible to regain my licence), will prevent me from carting stuff up to Denmark as well.
I will have to wait and see how things go. I will keep you informed.
There are lots of places to fish on the Danish Baltic coast, but I am only really au fait with the islands and coast up to Kolding. One can fish around Copenhagen, indeed, just about anywhere, but I cant get much information about that. Except very generally.

Yes, I am rather shattered right now. Trying to find out what I can do about it. Doubtless it will cost time and money. I wish I had never bothered with the d**n renewal now. I don´t really need it, but I just thought it would be a good idea to keep it. I think I might be able to persuade a friend of mine to take over the transport to Denmark. He is always pestering me to go fishing with him any way! Have to see. It does not jeopardise the trip itself, but it may affect some aspects of it. Booking can often be done at the "last minute" for off season trips. It is not usually a problem. For the Hostel in one of the above posts, it would be best to book as early as possible. Although the beginning of 2007 is time enough. So, I am off to the eye clinic! later....... TL MC

Hi Mike, Sorry to hear of your driving problems; also sorry too lose you at sexyloops! Have made my feelings made to Paul.. Tom It´s only a hard life if you don´t weaken! It seems the condition may be temporary, mainly a result of the borreliosis I contracted from an infected tick, and the resulting course of drugs I was obliged to take, so hopefully I will get my car licence back eventually, when I can pass the eye test, but my HGV and passenger licence is gone for good. The other condition you mentioned is permanent. There are plenty of boards where I am welcome, and where my posts are not edited. I am not reliant on any of them anyway. Nevertheless, I would prefer not to discuss such things on other boards. Only causes unnecessary bad feeling. TL MC
