Good stuff Hoppy, great to hear things are rolling in the right direction. This is a very helpfull site www.globalflyfisher.com/global/denmark/species/seatrout.htmlgives a fair bit of info. With reference to this site Im gonna make the patterns up suggested, does anyone know where I can obtain the following hooks. PARTRIDGE NYMPH/EMERGER size 4 - 8 (didnt think they made this style as big). KAMASAN B800 or B820 size 2 & 4 TIEMCO TRM 200 Starlmagwonder.

Hi, sorry for interupting thread, but to answer STMW - don't get to hung up on specific hooks I tie on these. Big Mouth singles - Black nickel use CS54 Saltwater shrimp for tiemco 200 it'll last a whole lot longer. in a squeeze the Klinkhammer hooks will do to the best & discontinued line that are ideal in altwatwer are the greyshadow hooks - any of them sometime barbless Cs28 roman moser streamers etc are on ebay. by the way - nothing is 100% invincible - you'll still need to wash all material waders, rod, reel & flies that have tasted the saltwater if your looking them that tad longer, If you PM me Starlmagwonder I can sort something out for you BB

Brian[/quote/ Have a look here; shorterlink.co.uk/6169I know a couple of people who use these; shorterlink.co.uk/6170and reckon they are quite adequate. Some of the combo spin/fly rods are interesting as well, as one can use sbirulinos, or spinners etc, as well as a fly line if desired. The cheapos wont usually last all that long in heavy use of course, but the relative quality of some is surprisingly good. TL MC

Hi Gents as some of you may already know i am new to the forum so just wanted to say hi but i am also curious as to why anyone thinks they need anything as heafty as an 8/9 wt rod for saltwater fly fishing on the Denmark trip. I would have thought the most an 7wt and even stepping down to a 5wt. As someone who regularly fishes the salt and even even very fast salt streams a 7wt is more than adequate. I dont want to steel anyones thunder but i dont see why anyone needs to be spending extra money on something that isnt needed when you probarbly already have equipment to suit.

Ive been wondering about rods for the Denmark trip myself, Ive got rods to cover most situations and conditions, as most others will probably have, the question is how far do we actually have to throw a line? I know that the further you throw it the more water you cover, but Im going for a break to enjoy myself, and not entering into any long distance stuff as I will probably end up stressed out as the line gets tangled and a hook finds its way into a listener, (again) Most of the text ive read on the saltwater job recommend rods 7#, or 8# loaded with WF floater or Intermediate, with a reel loaded with least 100 yards of backing, Ive read also that the fish can get very close in, and even behind you. I will probably be taking along 2 Fly rods, a 10ft 7# throws a good line and easy to handle and a 10ft 6in 8/9# thats a bit more pokerish that I can use with a heavy line if things are a bit blowy, also a spinning rod, just so ive got most things covered.
