That warranty card nonsense is precisely that...a nonsense. If you look at the card it says that you should return it within x days or else they will kidnap your kids etc etc but the dealers rarely fill them in and the card also states that receipt will not be acknowledged. You could try registering the rod on line but life is too short.
So...if you send it back and they dont acknowledge recept how do you know they received it ? Answer...you dont until you make a claim and the nice lady says they have "no record" of you ever having registered the rod and your lifetime warranty is therefore invalid.
Faced with somebody trying to wriggle out of a warranty on a £3/400 rod which has a fault you might reasonably get a bit upset. You might even suggest that they have obviously lost the warranty card you returned and because they do not acknowledge receipt you were blissfully unaware that there was a problem and [naturally] assumed your rod was registered.
You might do that...particularly if you bust your rod and then discovered you had never sent the card off in the first place !
I couldn't possibly comment but my Gem is sorted now thank you very much !

Thanks for the heads up Hoppy. Just bought the same rod. Nowhere on the warranty card does it say a time limit for registration.
However, i've now registered it online with Greys and can see it in MyAccount.
Thanks again - only had to buy it as I stood on my previous rod - looks like we are in the Clumsy Club together !
Cheers bud

Last spring, I broke a Greys spinning rod on about its third outing - just snapped in the middle of casting a light lure, well within its range.
I had registered the rod (luckily) so sent off about 3" of section either side of the break with a note saying that no way was I sending them another £25 as the rod clearly had a manufacturing fault. They replaced the section within the week, but never replied to any of my emails requesting advice about why the rod would have broken (poor technique? wrong line?).
The broken section? I inserted the top bit into the bottom bit with some epoxy and now have a spare - if somewhat shorter - top section!
