Ive gained a few brownie points over the last week or two, so the handbrake is letting me spend a bit of money ;D. Im gonna invest in some breathable waders, the problem is what size, ive always gone for neoprene with a wellie boot attached and found on the whole that they are a bit tight on the foot when thickish socks are worn oh my bunions, if I went for a size bigger then the fit of the wader would totally smoother me, (a bit short in the arse so to speak). The question is: with the neoprene stocking foot, do you get a size or two bigger boot. IE take size 9 in a shoe, Go for a size 10 in wader boot. It may seem a bit of a queer question, but I dont fancy forking out a good bit of cash to be uncomfortable and tripping over boots that would be more at home on a circus clown. so I would be glad of some advise, your answers on a postcard please. Thanks, Starlmagwonder

Have a look at the sizing chart on the Orvis website - www.orvis.co.uk/intro.asp?dir_id=441&Group_ID=703&subject=366Orvis have a very good range of sizes - enough to fit all but the weirdest shapes! In addition, their customer service is second to none and, if you're buying via mail order / web, ease of exchange if you get the sizing wrong in the first instance is a major benefit.

An option to consider for wading boots, and one I can recomend is Korkers, the boots with inter-changeable soles. korkers.com/product.php?recKey=27The boots are built on a walking boot last and are very supportive and comfortable for walking long distances and on rough terrain and the inter-changeable soles are great if, like me, you mix your fishing between rocky streams (Studded felt) and muddy banked reservoirs and rivers (cleated rubber). I'd recommend boots two sizes bigger than your normal size. I've had my Korkers for a good while now and I have no complaints whatsoever - they're as good as new despite using them in some pretty tough conditions.

Starlmagwonder interesting what you said about neoprene wellie boot as i would agree, i always go for a size bigger (e.g. shoe size is 8 i buy waders size 9) for this reason. As to stocking foot with over boots for some reason i find them uncomfortable but this is probably due to my opertaion scar on my achilles tendon! Cheers Aled

Always go a size larger with the Neoprene stocking foot.
I tend to go through a pair of boots each season, find they just fall apart, even worse now I've started fishing the sea.
Just purchased a pair of the Wychwood boots for £30 on ebay for this year, we'll see how these go.

Hi Starlmagwonder, if you are getting stockingfoots get boots 2 sizes bigger. Because water will be shrouding your feet all day it can get cooler esp. salt and rivers flowing from mountain springs were it can remain chilled even in heat waves ;D You may wear thicker or extra pair of socks or what I do,esp. to protect the wader feet, an extra neoprene socket over the top then into the boot. saves a heel if angling envolves mileage the extra sizing will allow you to accomodate the extra layer and also be less restrictive on the top of your foot, some boots will contract slightly after drying out & if your out again the next day you don't want an operation getting into them again ;D. the bigger sizing will less constriction on circulation aswell :- no blood flow - no heat - cold feet - suffering angler - abandoned mission Snowbee & others recom. 2 sizes bigger so a Sz.9 should order an Sz.11Uk. Be aware that the Yanks sizes are bigger anyway so if getting from the states etc take into consideration. ATB BB PS i'd rather have circulation & warmth in my extremities than worry about being Coco ;D & good luck in the tying league SW;)

Thanks for all the feedback fella's, Tried a few different makes of waders/boots on today, Plumbed for a pair of Greys G series + GRX Boots, both a good fit plenty of room in wader without been to baggy. Advise on boot sizing taken onboard, 2 sizes larger than standard shoe, brilliant fit. Well pleased. Once again Thanks, Regards, SMW PS: Only intended shopping for the waders/boots, but ended up with a new rod, some scissors, and a sh!tload of hooks and tying gear. couldn't resist the temptation ;D ;D
