Just saw Harris Sportsmail have these reels at 50 quid instead of 200! Anyone got/used one? Seems a bit suspiciously cheap to me. Are they cr*p? Cheers.

Just seen one on ebay, from a business seller,no reserve, currently at under £20 inc P&P.In fact he has several listed so you may be able to pick one up for even less......... However, how many times do we get told that a product is the best thing since.......only to be offered it for a fraction of the price a year later? Had a look at the balance reel at the CLA fair, nice spool, flimsy frame. The T7&8s seemed OK tho'....

Terrorist uses one - for a bet I think? ;D
To me they look like someones first attempt at designing a reel using their childhood Mechano Set!

This is the best advice i can give, get on ebay, search for LAMSON LS - these are absolutely brilliant, the LS3 or LS 3.5are perfect for sea trout and salmon.
I was told about them by Karl from Dearnford. He said that in America they were selling them in bins full of sand, the store owner would pull one up from out of the sand and put it under a tap, the reel would work perfectly every time.
I have 3 of these, and i cant fault them at all, and at present there are some cracking deals on the net. If possible get the silver/teflon one - its more robust a finish than the 'smoke' colour.
The drag is brilliant, and the build quality fantastic.
They are worth the investment!!!

i have just got the nautilus no 5 lightweight for my seatrouting very light ,great drag ,and a much more room for my backing wouldn't mind a lam son though i must admit, only trouble with owning quality reels is its expensive when it comes to spare spools

These Airflo balance reels that your all on about, my mate got one a 7-8-9 reel, ok it does look a bit of an oddity, but hey looks dont catch fish do they, he now uses it on his LE CIE 14'-8"fast along with a guideline intermediate 10/11 shooting head and has had no problems so far. I tried to buy one when they first went on sale from Fishtec and was told that the salmon one would only take up to a 10wf and would'nt take a spey line. It seems they were made for saltwater, hence the modern design, very like one of the ARI T HART reels.!!!!!!!!

Really like my balance reel, great little trout reel. However, I would opt for a T7 on sewin, a lot more robust.

Hiya TT, After all I said last year about Airflo gear, and then trying a couple of gratis ridge lines, and 40 plus...I really like the ridge, and with regard to the 40 + I dont get on with it ...BUT....I have seen others make it ...FLY... I have to say, try em before you knock em. ...and I will try the balance without any qualms....so any one who reads this and wants to give me an 8-9 balance, after me saying nice things about Airflo, I will most certainly use it. ;D Si
