Well I reckon it was TinTin who won the day ably assisted by his true companion Snowy, who was sent out at the final shoot of line to nip at the heels of his fellow competitors and totally put them off, the same man who made a mockery of the international match between Wales and England, (a double thrown in at the last minute) ;D ;D ;D

It was just a bit of luck guys, caught a good gust of wind on a couple of the casts I guess. Lasse and Lee would cast further than me any other day of the week I'm sure. We did have a go with the 7 weight outfits, but we didn't have enough room to cast them - Lasse' first cast landed on the lodge's patio! TT.

Shootouts are always cool, wherever in the world they may occur, ive had them in Norway at ten oclock at night in 1ft of snow, on beach fronts, school fields, hotel grounds, peoples gardens, and this one with lasse in denmark was very very memorable indeed. For all the fun and banter usually encountered, 5# distance casting is taken very seriously by a reletively small dedicated bunch of casters across the world, its become kinda standard to use this outfit given that its a light line event and therefore takes many hours practice gaining expereince of dealing with different conditions encountered on different days which can make or break casts, carrying 80-90ft of 5#line takes a lot of control in even the smallest of breezes. During any mini shootout or practice session we are also officially gauging how our distances fair against that small handfull of casters in the world who can hit 120ft+, this im afraid is the pace in this game..... The rules are vey simple, each caster casts every rod brought to the shootout, the cast must land inside the 10ft lane, you can count your first cast and have two more, or discount your first then you have three left... With all due respect I dont remember the exact distance that Lasse threw with either his 5# or my 5# rod "they were both 9ft TCR5# rods and 120ft ED lines just loaded on different reels", the furthest distance of 36.10m "118.438 ft" was a personal best for me this year.. Im very aware good fortune was on my side, lose sight of the fact that your throwing against a guy who in the past has hooked up 127's and things can go horribly wrong in an instant... Finally all credit must go to steffan for the cast he hooked up with the shooting head outfit too, wind or no wind, aware of how he done it or not, it is that kind of happening which makes people quite famous if they win official events, small or large, personally i knew theres no way I'd beat that cast when i stepped up.... P.s For anyone who may be interested, the furthest 5# cast that has ever been thrown in an official competion environment was by our very own Paul Arden from A.A.P.G.A.I, a cast of 130ft.9" quite simply out of this world.....
